DUTY ANALYST

This is a full-time position based at our Southampton office.

The Role

The Duty Analyst is an office-based role within Ambrey’s Global Operations Centre (GOC), supporting operational decision-making through the monitoring, research, analysis, and accurate logging of maritime security events from open-source and internal channels. The role is responsible for delivering clear, timely, and actionable situational awareness to maritime operations, ensuring emerging threats, incidents, and developments are identified, assessed, and communicated effectively. Working within the Risk Analytics team, the Duty Analyst reports to an Analyst and contributes to the consistency, reliability, and responsiveness of Ambrey’s intelligence and operational support functions. Operating within a fast-paced environment, the role supports the provision of 24/7 maritime security awareness and assists in maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the global maritime threat picture.

Responsibilities

  • Event and indicator collection per the scheduled searches and event reports.
  • Event analysis.
  • Event priority identification.
  • Independent normal or low-priority event dissemination.
  • Priority event escalation.
  • Communicating events with the Guardian operations team.
  • Co-ordinating information exchanges with relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelors in a related field such as Criminology, History, International Relations, Political Science or Security Studies.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to communicate succinctly and clearly to non-native English speakers.
  • The capability to work independently and set priorities.
  • Understanding of how to assess information validity and source reliability.
  • Open-source intelligence and/or Imagery intelligence training.
  • Ability to collaborate with peers.
  • Interest in maritime security and political risk.

Terms and Conditions

  • Salary: Commensurate with experience.
  • Annual Leave: 17.5 days per annum plus 3.2 days public holidays.
  • Working hours: Four days on, four days off, rotating through the following shifts: Day (08:00-16:30), Late (16:00-00:30), and Early (00:00-08:30).
