The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual to join our team as the Head of Loss Prevention. This leadership role is pivotal in driving our risk management strategies and ensuring the effective mitigation of potential threats and losses in the maritime industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic risk management plans to mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risks in the maritime sector.
  • Provide expert guidance and oversight on risk assessment methodologies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Lead a team of risk advisors and loss prevention specialists, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and analyses to identify emerging risks and vulnerabilities within maritime operations and supply chains.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to develop and implement risk mitigation measures and contingency plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk management initiatives, making recommendations for improvements as necessary.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory developments, providing strategic insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expert guidance and support on risk management best practices and solutions.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of training programs and workshops to enhance risk awareness and promote a culture of risk management excellence.
  • Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, and client meetings, showcasing expertise and thought leadership in risk advisory and loss prevention.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in maritime studies, risk management, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., ARM, CRM, CIRM) preferred.
  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in risk management/advisory, loss prevention, or related roles within the maritime industry, with a proven track record of success in leading risk management initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of maritime risk factors, industry regulations, and best practices in risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of professionals.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a strategic mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and industry stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a proactive and adaptable approach to change.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Terms and conditions

  • Salary: commensurate with experience
  • Working hours: 08:30am to 17:30pm Monday to Friday
  • Annual Leave: 25 days per annum plus public holidays.
